The Teton Dam Site can still be seen just east of Rexburg.   For those of you that don’t know, the Teton Dam burst in 1976 and caused major devastation to Rexburg and Sugar City  (see page 33 for details).

You can still go to the dam (what’s left of it) and even hike down to the river bed.  There’s also a nice overlook to see the
big picture.

How to get there:

1. Just take Highway 33 east past Sugar City
2. About 3 miles after Newdale you’ll see a sign for the Teton Dam Site.
3. Turn left and the road will take you to a little parking lot with an outlook surrounded by cement barriers.
